Background:

The Migration Health Service (MHS) is one of the traditional and long-standing service areas in IOM. Initially set up to deal with the travel and immigration health requirements of European migrants, MHS’ activities now include the migration health concerns of mobile populations in Eastern and Central Europe, the Balkans, Africa, South-East Asia, the South Pacific and other areas.

Mandate:

To ensure that people moving under the auspices of IOM are fit to travel, that they are not a hazard to the people traveling with them, and that they receive appropriate medical attention and assistance during all phases of their migration.
